Berta joined SVA in November of 2016 after having received a Bachelors in Political Science and another in American Indian Studies from the University of Washington. Berta always wanted to work in health care and has worked in human medicine in the past, but jumped at the chance to work with pets and their humans instead. She says she thinks it’s the best of both worlds: getting to work in medicine with humans and getting to work with pets. When she’s not at work, Berta loves to run, play soccer, read, hike, and travel. Berta currently shares her home with a chow chow-shepherd mix named Mickey O’Malley who graciously allows her a small space sleep in the bed with him at night.
